Mini mother-son vacation!

Thanks to some unused frequent flyer miles, Cedric and I ventured off to the city of Bucaramanga for 10 days at the end of last month. It was such a rest from the usual rush and routine of our life here in Bogota.
I have discovered that I feel so much healthier at lower altitudes. I don't even have to go all the way down to sea level to feel better, this trip was from 2,625 m (8,612 ft) down to 959 m (3,146 ft). I had energy all day long, only taking a siesta to avoid the intense noontime heat and my quality of sleep was so much better. If only I could move all my friends, our home and our ministries down several thousand feet!
Cedric loved the warmer climate, being outdoors more often and on this trip he "fell in love" with dump trucks!
Here are some of our favorite pictures of our mother-son vacation to visit Miss Marcia.

My Favorite USA 2013 Trip Pictures

Cedric with his girl cousins the first day in town.

We threw a 2-year birthday party for Cedric the first week in Long Beach!

There were lots of moments of playtime and fun with cousins at Nana & Papa's house.

Good times with the STEP group.

 We enjoyed Seal Beach, CA!

.... and good times visiting with friends:

The only thing that grieves me about living overseas is being far from family, so I was glad that on this trip Cedric had good quality time with four of his 10 cousins! (Here's to hoping he will soon be able meet and play with the rest of them!)

This was also a farewell trip in many ways. My parents are packing up and moving back to New Zealand later this year, so it was goodbye to the home base I've known for the past 23 years.

Church Baptisms

Back in April Bill had the privilege of being involved in discipling and baptizing 9 new believers at our church.

How We Spent Cedric's Second Birthday

After breakfast & pressies & nap we headed out to a local petting zoo:

then a couple of treats at the mall

ending with birthday dinner & cake.

Bucaramanga Easter Trip

It was a rich and happy visit!

"it was a rewarding trip ~ spending my mornings playing with my boy in the warm tropical climate and then sharing God's word in the evenings at the Easter conference."

"I loved cooking meals undistractedly (read: without a little fellow under foot!) and cherished being in my childhood hometown with dear friends."

"play ~ park ~ cat ~ water ~ ball"

Our friends, hosts and co-workers: Sandra and Marcia

Last day in town we went for a swim in the pool where I had my lessons when I was a girl. Cedric was a bit under the weather, so he and Bill crashed for awhile in the shade.
