Sunday School

This year I started helping out with a preschool Sunday school class! It has been a bit of a challenge to figure out how to impart a little knowledge of God to these hyperactive boys! I only have pictures of two of them... we have 3 regular boys and several others (only 1 girl) that visit from time to time. I don't know what I'd do if there were more!!

Oak Glen

Last month Bill and I went for a drive up to a nearby apple orchard in the mountains beyond Riverside. It was a beautiful day and great to get away from the city! We forgot to take pictures of the apple trees - but here's one of a raspberry patch and "fall" tree to illustrate "autumn" in southern California. In the month since we visited the area they've had fires and we've all enjoyed 80+ degree weather. It seems we've settled back in the 70s, but it definitely doesn't feel like autumn.

Spotsie

Debbie requested I post a picture of our pet cat, Spotsie. She is a year old and loves playing with toy mice. My nephew Misha sent her this one from Scotland. (He didn't send me a gift!?)
She is a sweet kitty - lives for the moments I let her into the backyard. Since she lives indoors she doesn't really get to exercise her predatorial instincts much, however she has proven very capable at catching, playing with and eating crickets.
Any other requests? :)

Eight Years of Happiness

On September 19th we celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went on a Marriage Retreat hosted by Talbot. It was our first one ever! It was a nice getaway with some good sessions taught by a Biola professor. They gave us plenty of free time so we wandered down to Laguna Beach on the Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the coastal scenery.
We have been blessed by our marriage and thank God for these past eight years!

Blogging Problems

Not sure why my blogspot has not been viewable. Will work on it and add an update soon.
For those wondering where I've been...
the new semester started in late August and I'm teaching 3 classes, taking 1 class and trying to keep up with all the normal life stuff too. Blogging is way down on the list of things to keep up with!

Roommate Reunion

During my last year at Biola I shared an on-campus apartment with three friends. Last Sunday was the first time since Dana's wedding in 1995 that we've all been together! It was neat to catch up and see how God has worked in each of our lives.

Summer Fun

Yesterday we had a day off from work and spent the day visiting several L.A. beaches with Julian, Diana & Viviana...

Venice Beach... it was very "tame" today as we walked along the boardwalk.

Hermosa Beach... picnic lunch.

The guys went for a long swim... doing battle with the waves!

We drove around the Palos Verdes Peninsula and ended up at the Korean Friendship Bell overlooking the Los Angeles Port.

World Travelers

One of my old students had this map on his blogspot and I thought it was cool... the website listed below allows you to enter the countries you have been to and then creates your own unique map. You can see that I need to spend some time over in Europe, Asia and Africa... maybe one day?

A Day with Jen

Jennifer and I visited the Huntington Library & Gardens last Thursday. It was a beautiful warm day and we enjoyed the calm walk through the landscape.

Graduation

Several Talbot friends graduated this past weekend... we enjoyed sharing the celebration with them and rejoicing over the completion of their Master degrees. Bill is about halfway through his double major, so being at the graduation was a good way to be encouraged in persevering toward that goal!

Spring Blossoms

Let me show you how my garden has grown...

Before (February):

After (May):
My very first rose:
It's been neat to watch my little flower beds grow - all I've done is water and weed; the sun, soil and plants have done the rest. Many spiritual lessons can be gleaned from gardening!

Friends & Holidays

The past month has been a full one, you can tell as there haven't been the spare minutes necessary to blog!
I've been blessed to spend time with friends... Alexa visited during the last weekend in March:

Bill and I have enjoyed the past week off from work and studies. We had free tickets to the Wild Animal park in San Diego, so we went down there for a day with my parents:

We also added a pet to our home and would like to introduce you to the cat we "rescued", her name is Spotsie:

Today four dear friends came over for Tea with me. I enjoyed catching up with Sheela, Maricel, Jennifer and Tricia:
